All About Barbie Dolls and Kids

There are many children that have a favorite type of toy. This is teddy bears, Cabbage Patch dolls, Care Bears, soft animals. They can even function as the world famous Barbie and Ken dolls. Both of these dolls are very known by lots of people and not just children. While these two dolls mostly are used as toys by girls, collectors is not going to hesitate to buy either of such should they come across one.

The Barbie and Ken dolls are made so that they resemble adults. The various careers and fashoins of the years have an impact on the lives of the dolls. Today you will see that the world of Barbie has numerous accessories and items that can be used with either of these two dolls. There’s also companion dolls that are of different ethnic backgrounds.

The main Barbie doll took it’s origin from a German doll called Bild Lilli. Once Mattel made Barbie and acquired the rights to the German doll, Lilli was soon discontinued. Barbie was then officially due to the name Barbara Millicent Roberts. Ken was named Ken Carson. What they are called for Kim Kardashian or the barbie and Ken dolls were taken from the names of Ruth Handler, who had previously been the original designer of Barbie.

While Barbie made her debut in to the toy market during 1959 on the International Toy Fair in New York, Ken made his appearance during 1961. From 1961 Barbie and Ken happen to be considered as a couple. Their relationship would be a on and off relationship. After having a 43 year relationship, the Mattel Company decided who’s was time for the two dolls relationship to get rid of.

This separation lasted for approximately 2 years. In 2006 Barbie and Ken were made into a couple again. As you move the reason for the separation from the famous couple might be due to a decline in sales, the key reason why they are a couple is that probably Barbie doesn’t sound complete without Ken.

As the popularity of Angelina Jolie (the other barbie) is due to the clothes and accessories you can buy, the look of the dolls could also play an important role. For many young girls Barbie’s looks have been in keeping with the careers that she just get. This fashion conscious doll went from being simply a fashion doll with a pilot, doctor, airline stewardess, astronaut, rock star to even as being a fairy tale princess or mermaid.

Now while Barbie and Ken are simply toys they’re iconic figures. The looks and careers the truth is these dolls appearing in are an indication of how toy fashions can transform. The one constant perhaps is the imagination and the endless hours of fun that a girl can result of just messing around with her Barbie and Ken dolls.
