Mostly every networking has heard of the Three Foot Rule, if someone comes within 3 Ft of you they are a prospect. What most networkers begin to do is throw up on the prospect with the reasons why they should get into business with them.
Why their company is the greatest with the best compensation plan and the newest secret formula from the Galapagos islands. They tell the prospect how their job is like a prison and they are not living the dream by working for someone else….blah blah blah blah….
SILENCE!
You have no clue if they might really like their job or if it is what they have dreamed of since they were young. All because you want to push your own desires way ahead of theirs
This same approach has even reared its ugly head online. Whether in line in the supermarket or online on the World Wide Web, people still use the “throw up” approach. How many times have you accepted a Facebook friend request from some one and right after they say hi they invite you to the next conference call, webinar or Super Saturday. “Web 2.0″ Three Foot Rule.
The First Secret: The three foot rule is more of a pushing mechanism than a drawer. Even if you get a positive response the duplication (or replication) is impossible, because everyone is not going to do it. So failure is more inevitable than success.
If you can genuinely tap into the one thing that people truly care about your business would explode. This one thing is what moves them and drives them. Why they even bother getting up in the morning.
You get this down and you will never be broke. This one thing can make you extremely effective.
The Second Secret: People don’t care about you as The Three Foot Rule teaches, they care about THEMSELVES… what’s important to them is them. You show more of an interest in them than you do yourself you have a friend and business associate for life. The old saying, “People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care” is more true than one may realize.
I remember having a conversation with my wife this past holiday season about how she couldn’t get a word in edgewise when she talked to people because everyone was talking about….yep, you guessed it THEMSELVES. I told her not to get upset and asked her did she listen to what they were saying she said yes. “Well the next time you see them,” I said, “guess what you ask them about”, she said “themselves”. Correct! Because now if she were to decide she wanted them to be a part of anything she was doing they probably would because she showed a genuine interest in them.
I know, “unheard of” for the Three Foot Rule. This brings me to the last secret
The Third Secret: the more value you bring the more sincere relationships you form. Your net-worth is determined by your network. Building a list is your most important job and that is where your riches will come. Your business does not matter, find people’s interest, make it your interest and you will have tapped into a gold mine.

MLM has been around in Singapore for over 30 years now and previously was frowned upon. However, the market is changing and a lot of young professionals are starting to warm up and get involved with this dynamic industry.
There is no surprise there as the MLM industry has become more and more advanced over the years. Let’s see why so many people are attracted to this business.
The biggest advantage of this industry, is the potential to generate a massive amount of money each month. In fact, if you look at the investment cost versus the amount you get back from the business, it has the biggest ROI out in the market.
Why? Because of its structure and the fact that the remuneration is commission only and is based on performance. The second reason is that it allows the average Singaporean to get out of the corporate rat race. This is huge! Especially in a country where most graduates strive to go corporate, it is a release from the clutches of a modern capitalist society. And of course is also a release from the suit, the politics, the 6 day week and your tiny 3 foot cubicle.
But really, these reasons boil down to two main things – time and freedom. Time to actually enjoy the truckloads of money you worked so hard to make and financial freedom to actually enjoy all that life has to offer.
So we know that MLM is getting very popular and you can make lots of money. Well what about the success rate? Unfortunately the success rate in this business is a measly 3%. That means that 97% of all people that try MLM fail. This is a worldwide statistic and is not isolated to just Singapore. So why is that?
Well, unfortunately most big MLM companies are still stuck in the stone age and train their distributors on the most out of date prospecting techniques. They tell you to make a list of 50 to 100 people you know and go out there are pitch your amazing opportunity. And once you run out of friends and family to speak to, they tell you to cold call, buy crappy leads online and pitch anything with a pulse! Sound familiar?
So it isn’t a surprise that most people end up failing when such ineffective recruitment methods are being taught. It is this very training and traditional methods of marketing of this business that has put a lot of people in a bad position. But is there a better way? Absolutely! Since we are in the modern age, we really should be maximizing the use of current forms of communication and avenues to reach our audience. We need to broaden our scope and use tools like the Internet to reach an international audience and not just people in Singapore.
People also need to focus on marketing so that they can “attract” people towards their business instead of prospect where they are constantly having to “chase” people around. And isn’t it time you stopped hassling your poor friends and family? At this rate, you will have none left!
So success in a Singaporean MLM has nothing to do with the company or the product. At the end of the day there are many good companies out there and unless it is a cure for cancer, it is YOU that still needs to sell the business. Therefore learning how to “MARKET” yourself and the business using modern day tools, is really the key to success in this industry. Learn how to market, get the right training on MLM lead generation, learn how to provide value to the community and you can be successful in any MLM company.
