WordPress out of the box provides standard management of the main SEO meta information. To extend the functionality we add our own super-charged version of the All-In-One-SEO Pack. The SEO pack makes it simple to modify the page title and page meta description.

The All-In-One-SEO Pack is a great WordPress plugin that completes the SEO aspects for WordPress. For some reason WordPress still has not got the SEO fixed out of the box.

The All-In-One-SEO Pack allows you you to change the most significant page elements – page title and page description. It also permits you to modify the page keywords, but as we all know, search engines no longer take note of these because they have been spammed too much in the past. Google stopped using the keywords for page ranking in the early 2000′s.

Page Title tags

This is the No1 SEO element to manipulate. Always make sure that you manipulate the page title. The page title appears in the browser window at the very top of the screen. Search engines use this in the listings and display it in their search results.

Always try to make the page title only contain the keywords you want the page to rank for. Try to restrict them to two or three maximum.

The page title is the MOST powerful SEO page element because it is like the title of a book. And just like a book title, if it is good it will be more attractive to readers.

If your page needs to stretch to cover two or 3 keywords we have found that you can still get good rankings from adding multiple keywords to the title. But do remember that the closer the page title is to the keyword you want to rank for the better.

Even though it’s best to keep the page title just to the keywords you want to rank for, if you are a branded business you will also most likely need to add in your company name so that it shows up on Google in your listing.

Page Description Meta Tags

This element is NOT used by search engines for ranking purposes. Nevertheless, most search engines will employ this in their search results so it is important. Google does not use the description all the time but we find that it uses it about 80-90% of the time. The rest of the time it will pick up the first piece of text on the page.

By having a good description it will increase your click through rates because the text will be more attractive to people. Ensure that you use a maximum of 156 characters. If you use any more characters Google will cut short the rest. If you can keep your descriptions to–0 characters or less this is even better seeing Google sometimes adds a date to the opening of the description which is part of the 156 characters it displays.

As the use and knowledge of the Internet has spread, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has become an ever more popular concept. It is increasingly true that a successful business needs a strong online presence to compete successfully. A great variety of techniques have been developed to improve a website’s ranking in the search engine result pages. Some of these techniques are entirely ethical and above-board. (The term for these techniques is “White Hat SEO”.) Some of them are not so ethical. (Black Hat SEO.)

Using White Hat SEO tactics is the best strategy to achieve top ranking. They will not lead to penalties being imposed by search engine companies, and will improve your company’s reputation. After all, it isn’t just a high rank on the search engine result pages that is important, rank stability is also important. The quick boosts in ranking achieved by Black Hat SEO techniques usually vanish quickly, with little to no long-term gain.

White Hat SEO Techniques: Internal linking is a big factor in your website’s ranking. How the different portions of your site are linked will either make it easier or harder for search engines to spider and index pages. (“Spidering” refers to the process the engines use to search for content.) Search engine spiders are very simple programs, and are mainly concerned with text. They tend to ignore images, scripts, frames, directories, and such. Drop-down navigation, for instance, is a bad idea from an SEO point of view. It may look fancy, but as it contains little text it will tend to be ignored by the spiders, leaving the content behind it unseen. It is critical to leave text links to your most important internal pages at the bottom of your home page. (This includes the sitemap, if any.)

White Hat SEO Tactics: Internal linking A good website ranking by the search engine is marred by making the task of spidering and indexing difficult for it. Scripts may help in providing drop down navigation in websites but they may not be crawled and indexed by the search engine bots. Search engine drivers are insensible to images, scripts, frames and directories etc. and hence drop down navigation may not the identified by it. The look of the website may be enhanced by scripts and navigation but the function of spidering by SEO gets failed. So it is vital to include text links at the base of your landing page with links to you key internal pages together with the site map.

Reciprocal Linking White Hat SEO technique also do constructing reciprocal links by which links are added to other sites thereby you get more incoming links to your website. But, the below given points should be in mind before linking with other sites: 1. Relevance of linked sites to yours. 2. The link needs to be of use to your website visitors. 3. The presence of your Keywords in the linked sites. Linking process is hard and requires more time. So random linking may be desisted so that efficiency is achieved in bringing a high search ranking.

Take your time and link to the best sites, because you are who you keep company with. It will take a long time to build up a robust system of links. However, once you’ve done it, your traffic will soar, and maintenance of the system will be negligible.

Optimizing the layout, structure, and presentation of your site will do a lot for it too. If it easy to use and pleasing to behold you will gain better exposure, and that translates into higher ranking and visibility.
